MP Peter Salasya laments gov’t left MPs stranded in Rwanda hotels with no money during EAC games

Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya now claims that MPs were left stranded during the East African Community (EAC) Parliamentary games held in Kigali, Rwanda.

The MP who was speaking in a video shared via his official Facebook account on Monday, December 18, 2023, alleged that the President William Ruto-led administration duped them into thinking that their stay would be fully funded only for them to be left stranded in Rwanda hotels over lack of money.

Continuing his spiel, the legislator expressed shock and wondered how the government could subject MPs to such a level of shame.

The MP further urged the president to look into the welfare of the MPs and to refrain from making promises with no intention of fulfilling them.

"Uganda is laughing at us, Tanzania are laughing at us, Burundi are laughing at us, and South Sudan ati tumeshindwa kulipa ma hoteli baada ya kudanganywa they will send us money if they can lie to members of parliament what of the rest of Kenyans. Nimeboeka tu sana they could have told us earlier they won't send us money to sustain us here. Aibu kubwa kwa nchi," Salasya said.

"Tumecheza game poa, tumerepresent Kenya, mi napenda Kenya, napenda Kenya mbaya lakini cha kushangaza tumekuja kucheza game lakini hakuna mtu ametupatia pesa. Yaani ata MPs wenyewe wanakua subjected kwa aibu…saizo we uko hapo unasema nchi iko sawa. Sisi tunasema kwamba wewe ndio mama wa taifa, president wewe ndio baba taifa you must take charge and control. You should also be telling Kenyans the truth. the problem with the president is that he never tells the people the truth."
