Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino now says that the purported rift between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua is only but a ploy to win the sympathy of Mt. Kenya residents.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, the opposition MP rubbished the perceived rivalry between the two leaders terming it as a “games and gimmicks” strategy aimed at hoodwinking Kenyans who have lost confidence in their leadership.
Mr. Owino claimed the President and his deputy intend to continue with the plot until the next general election, when they will purportedly make up in a bid to win back voters so as to be re-elected.
“There is no fight here, these are games and gimmicks. I want Kenyans to remember that these people are going to work together. I want to tell Kikuyus, as Babu Owino, your son-in-law, be careful of these two musketeers,” he warned.
“These people are lying to you and will work again in future. The war that is purportedly fought now is to rally you behind one person so that you are delivered later on back to the person who has the knife to chop off your heads.”
According to lawmaker, the plan is for President Ruo to appear as if he is pushing DP Gachagua away, after which the latter will be forced to go on a self-isolation mission to attract sympathy from his backyard which is seemingly fading away from his grasp.
The Mt. Kenya region will then purportedly rally behind DP Gachagua, out of the mere reason that their own has been discarded.
The aftermath, Mr. Owino added, will then see DP Gachagua reclaiming the support of the Central region before reconciling with his boss, whereupon the two would galvanize their supporters for another stab at the top seat.
“These people have lost favour in the eyes of wananchi everywhere in this country, specifically in Central region where they promised heaven and delivered the people of Mt. Kenya region to hell, and right now people are hurting in Mt. Kenya,” said the legislator.
“Therefore the only way to bring the region together is to bring the sympathy strategy where the President purports to be fighting his deputy intentionally, and they have agreed for that matter so that the people from Mt. Kenya can rally behind Gachagua and say that one of own is being fought and they all rally behind him because they have all lost favour in both Rigathi and Ruto.”
MP Owino added: “After some time in the future, all people from Mt. Kenya shall have rallied behind Gachagua and he will still deliver them to Ruto purporting that they have made up and that there is peace that has been brokered and therefore there is no fight here, these people are pretending so that they can get the people of Mt. Kenya.”
The firebrand MP went on to caution the people of Central region about falling prey to the rivalry narrative, urging them to instead consider joining the opposition faction which he says has their intentions at heart.
“These people have no good intentions to help you but to destroy you, join this side and let us deal with these people," he noted.
