A dispute over a goldmine in Moyale Sub County, Marsabit County, turned deadly on Sunday, March 10, when rival factions of miners clashed in a violent confrontation, killing three people.
According to sources familiar with the situation, tensions erupted at the goldmine due to misunderstandings among the miners, which escalated into intergroup fighting.
One person died in the initial clash, and at least eight others were injured and taken to Moyale Level 4 Hospital for treatment.
According to a police report filed at the Dabel station, two more people were killed in the same mines on Monday.
A member of the public filed the police report, informing officers that he had discovered two bodies of men who appeared to have been stoned to death.
