Milly Chebby reveals how Jackie Matubia helped in the planning of her traditional wedding ceremony
Milly Chebby recently reminisced about her 2023 traditional wedding, sharing memories she had never revealed before in her latest YouTube video.
In the video, Milly explains how they decided to have a ruracio (traditional wedding ceremony), attributing part of that decision to going to a certain restaurant with her former best friend, Jackie Matubia.
However, the two are no longer seen together, and Jackie didn’t attend the ruracio.
This was Milly and Terence's second ruracio, planned as a more elaborate affair compared to the first one, which took place in 2017 when Terence presented her family with Ksh23,000.
Now with a larger budget, they were able to celebrate in style in 2023. Terence humorously recalled, “This time, it was a ruracio ya heshima (a respectful ceremony) because the last time the whole village gossiped about me; I really surprised them.”
Milly shared clips from her final moments of friendship with Jackie, showing a nostalgic outing at Two Rivers Mall in 2023, where they had planned an evening together.
As Milly waited at a friend's restaurant for Jackie to get to the venue, the owner posed a casual question about marriage, sparking a conversation that led to the wedding planning.
The friend who owned the restaurant jokingly asked Terence, “Have you ever officially married Chebet? Have you done a ruracio? When’s the wedding?”
Terence replied that they had planned to hold a “ruracio ya heshima,” prompting a committee for the event, with Jackie and other friends enthusiastically joining the WhatsApp group that the restaurant owner had started.
The hotel owner immediately gave a Ksh100,000 along with another Ksh 100,000 pledge which encouraged Milly and Terence to move forward with the wedding plans.
“I stand alone; I’m pledging Ksh 100,000,” the hotel owner friend said with excitement, followed by cheering, “And just like that, we have a wedding!”
As they entered the elevator, Milly playfully reminded Jackie, “On the week you got divorced!” adding humour to the touching memory of their once-strong friendship.
