Mike Sonko Hints at Organising Vybz Kartel Concert in Kenya, Ignites Online Frenzy

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has sparked fresh excitement online after hinting at the possibility of bringing Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel to perform in Kenya.

In a now-viral post on X, Sonko posed the question: “How many people will attend if I bring him to perform in Kenya?”

The post was accompanied by a bold headline-style image that read: “Vybz Kartel says he’s ready to perform in Kenya, calls on promoters to book him: ‘Tell promoters Kartel is ready to come home.’”

Sonko’s tweet not only reignited interest among Kartel’s Kenyan fanbase but also lent credibility to the artist’s own earlier remarks. Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, made headlines during a recent TikTok Live session.

Kartel declared, “Tell the promoters Kartel is ready to come home!” When asked by a Kenyan fan when he would tour, he replied, “2025.”

He further thrilled fans by adding: “Big up Kenya man, remember I’m a Kenyan and a Jamaican. One Kenya, you hear that!”

His comments were seen as a direct appeal to African promoters, especially in Kenya, where his music enjoys widespread popularity.

Tracks like “Fever,” “Clarks,” “Summertime,” and “Romping Shop” are anthems in local clubs, house parties, and matatus, making Kartel a household name in the Kenyan dancehall scene.

Sonko’s tweet adds fuel to the fire, transforming what once seemed like a far-off fantasy into a tangible possibility.

With the artist expressing interest and one of Kenya’s most recognizable public figures amplifying the call, a Vybz Kartel concert in Nairobi could be in the offing.

The spotlight now shifts to Sonko, event promoters, and entertainment stakeholders.

Will they seize the moment and make the “World Boss” live in Nairobi a reality?
