A section of residents living in Mbeere North constituency have called on the county government to address the snake menace, which has proven deadly.
In the latest incident this week, a Form 3 student was bitten by a snake on his way home from playing football with his friends.
According to a witness, Miriam Njeru, the boy was rushed to the nearest health facility at Karambari area and he was then referred to Siakago Level 5 Hospital due to lack of drugs.
“When they arrived at Siakago Level 5 hospital, he was again referred to Embu Level 5 Hospital and he passed away on his way,” she added.
Mbeere North residents are now calling on the government of Embu to equip all medical facilities to deal with such cases to avoid another tragedy.
They also called for sensitization exercises to educate people on First Aid and preventive measures when dealing with snake bites.
The body of the deceased was moved to Embu Level 5 mortuary.
