Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has warned Inspector General of Police that he will be personally held accountable for any violations made by the police against the Kenyan constitution.
Karua in a statement made via her official X account on Saturday, August 10, 2024, said that the 2010 constitution is a living document that must be adhered to by all persons.
The 2022 presidential running mate for Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition party pointed out that human life and dignity must be respected.
“Reminding the Inspector General of Police that the constitution of Kenya 2010 is a living document that must be adhered to by all persons, respect for human life and dignity is not an option, your continued violations will be accounted for individually,” Karua stated.
Karua’s remarks come a day after she camped at the home of businessman Jimi Wanjigi in Muthaiga where she urged the police who had raided the home, to leave.
Karua confronted the police manning Wanjigi’s Muthaiga home and asked them to leave.
While addressing the police outside Wanjigi’s home, Karua said the family desires to be left in peace without disturbance.
Karua further threatened a lawsuit against the police for failure to withdraw from the home.
“Hii sio camp ya polisi, hii ni nyumba ya mwenyewe na familia ingetaka kukaa kwa utulivu bila kubabaika, mmefanya yale mmefanya, sasa tunawaomba muondoke bila kukawia,” Karua said.
A multi-agency security team had camped outside his Nairobi house, number 44 in Muthaiga seeking to get into the compound for hours before they finally broke in.
They then embarked on a search in the house while looking for Wanjigi and what they termed as more evidence.
