Mark Zuckerberg reveals a massive statue of his wife

How deep is your love? Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg might be a tech guru but that does not mean he has no time to appreciate his wife Priscilla Chan in big ways, literally.

On Tuesday this week, he unveiled a 7ft statue sculpted in Chan’s likeness, honouring an ancient Roman tradition.

“Bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife,” he wrote.

Chan is seen standing next to the sculpture in a robe, holding a mug that matches the statue’s colour scheme.

The sculpture was crafted by New York-based artist Daniel Arsham and its colour and size got people referring to Zuckerberg as the ‘wife guy’.

“This is the most billionaire thing to do ever,” wrote an Instagram user.

“Husbands everywhere are shaking,” added another.

Chan later shared the post on her Instastories, cheekily writing, “You can’t miss me!”

Love story

Zuckerberg and Chan have been married for 12 years and their love story is straight out of a classic rom-com.

The two Harvard undergraduates met in 2003 while waiting in line for the bathroom and struck up a conversation.

According to Chan, Zuckerberg was nerdy but had a fun side to him and they quickly got along.

Seven years later in 2010, they moved in together. At the time, Chan was studying at the University of California and Zuckerberg, excited, Zuckerberg announced the news on Facebook.

"Priscilla Chan is moving in this weekend. Now we have 2x everything, so if you need any household appliances, dishes, glasses … please come by and take them before we give them away," he wrote on his personal Facebook page.

Two years later in 2012, a day after Facebook went public, the lovebirds tied the knot in a surprise outdoor wedding attended by close friends and family who thought it was a celebration of Chan’s graduation from medical school.

In late 2015 they welcomed their first child Maxima Chan Zuckerberg and launched the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative at the same time, as they pledged to use their wealth to improve the lives of others.

Later in 2017, they were blessed with another daughter, August Chan Zuckerberg and they could not hide their excitement after suffering several setbacks before.

"Your mom and I are so excited to see who you will become," Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook. "You will be busy when you're older, so I hope you take time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now. I hope you read your favourite Dr Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp. I hope you ride the carousel with Max until you've tamed every colour horse."

He continued, "And I hope even in your dreams you can feel how much we love you. Childhood is magical. You only get to be a child once, so don't spend it worrying too much about the future."

He signed off, "August, we love you so much and we're so excited to go on this adventure with you. We wish you a life of joy, love and the same hope you give us."

They welcomed their third baby together Aurelia Chan Zuckerberg in March 2023. The couple often share their milestones with the world and in May this year, Chan threw Zuckerberg a 40th birthday party to celebrate him and his achievements.

"Mark doesn't usually let me go big for his birthday but for his 40th I was allowed to throw a bash as long our friends and family also roasted him. We all had a blast!" the mom of three wrote on Instagram.

Adding: "Jokes aside, as I reflect on the 21 of Mark's birthdays we have spent together, one of my favourite things about Mark is how he really, truly believes in people. He sees the potential in all of us. I have no idea what adventures are coming next, but I’m here for all of them."
