Listen to Kenyans and Stop Your Arrogance, Bullets Will not Solve Anything: Natembeya Tells Ruto
According to Natembeya, the government has gone tone deaf to the demands from Kenyans and has shielded itself with excessive use of police power, a shield he says will not last.
"If today 1 million Kenyans walked to State House, what are they going to do? Are they going to kill everybody? All these walls we build around ourselves as leaders are fake. They can just crumble. At the end of the day power is with the people," he said on Spice FM.
Natembeya argued that not heeding calls from Kenyans is a representation of how ill-informed the national leadership has become, adding that President William Ruto should put his house in order.
He opined that solving a bigger part of the national upheaval is curing to the ailing economy, and give the youth incentives to make a living.
"We have done a huge disservice to this country. We are not supposed to be where we are now where unemployment is almost at 60%. Chances of you living a lifetime without a job in Kenya are very real, not because you haven't gone to school. It's because you can't get a job," he said.
"And that is what the young people are talking about. We are taking it very casually and we think because we are leaders we are very safe."
This comes in the wake of deadly protests that have led to fatal deaths occasioned by police officers.
As of Tuesday evening, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) recorded 31 deaths and 107 injuries resulting from the Saba Saba anniversary protests held on Monday, July 7.

The police force staged an intimidating presence in different parts of the nation, mainly in the capital, as protesters were even chased into their homes and estates.
The Kenyan youth have taken to the streets since last year's anti-tax protests, calling for sober governance and the resignation of leaders espousing bad leadership.
