KUCCPS clarifies issue on payment of TVET courses application

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Thursday issued a clarification to students paying for applications for TVET courses.

In a statement, the organisation urged the applicants to only use the KUCCPS official account number to submit their application.

KUCCPS warned against using the mobile money code to make the payment. However, the organisation did not reveal the reason for students to only use the account number.

"For TVET application payment, please use the account number provided for payment to submit your application," read part of the statement.

However, it directed applicants to submit the applications by January 2024 to pave the way for placement to various schools.

Besides those in the above category, candidates who sat for the 2023 KCSE will also have a chance to apply for the courses when KUCCPS opens the portal for applications.

In the 2023 KCSE, 494,317 students scored a D+ and below, qualifying them to join TVETS and artisan institutions to pursue a certificate or diploma of their choice.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has constantly championed for students to gain hands-on skills by taking short courses offered by TVETs. Machogu argued that the skills would students to be self-employed.

Meanwhile, students seeking a second chance can apply via the student portal, students.kuccps.net.

How to Apply

After accessing the portal, fill in your credentials as prescribed.

Proceed to select your preferred course from four options offered in government institutions.

List them from the most preferable to the list and submit. Proceed to pay for the application as directed by KUCCPS.
