KQ to launch second London flight hub at Gatwick in 2025

Kenya Airways (KQ) has unveiled plans to operate direct flights from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to London’s Gatwick Airport, set to begin on July 2, 2025.

The new route will complement the existing flights to Heathrow, offering KQ passengers more options when traveling to the United Kingdom.

The airline will operate three weekly flights—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—scheduled to depart Nairobi at night.

Allan Kilavuka, KQ’s Group Managing Director and CEO, highlighted that the new Gatwick service will increase the airline’s London frequency to 10 weekly flights, providing greater flexibility for UK-bound travelers.

“We are excited to add Gatwick to our network, offering our passengers more options and a schedule that suits their preferences,” Kilavuka said.

Travelers flying from Gatwick will also benefit from seamless connections to Kenya Airways’ expansive network through its Nairobi hub.

In a bid to expand its European and US presence, KQ recently signed a codeshare agreement with Air Europa, offering passengers enhanced travel options to destinations like Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, New York, and Miami, while also connecting travelers from Amsterdam to Nairobi.
