A section of Bobasi constituents has resolved to hold monthly demonstrations over the poor state of the Igare-Nyacheki road.
The residents have so far held three demonstrations demanding the road be tarmacked.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Igare shopping centre after demonstrating from Matierio to Igare, they told area MP Innocent Obiri to honour his pledge of tarmacking the road.
The residents also claim the MP has allegedly deserted the constituency and demanded an audience with him failure to which they will start the process of recalling him.
“Upon confirming that the MP has failed to keep his promises and abdicated his role as our representative, residents of Bobasi will kick off the process of seeking his removal from office,” said Vincent Osero who read the resolutions on behalf of the irate residents
However, speaking on Egesa FM two weeks ago, the MP promised to murram the road.
“A contract has been awarded and we expect the contractor to be at the site in two weeks' time. We want to make the road motorable,” said the MP.
He said initially, the road was supposed to be done by the county government but he took it over and graded it adding that it will be tarmacked once funds are available.
Obiri accused political opponents of orchestrating demonstrations. He however said it was within the rights of the residents to hold demonstrations.
On Wednesday, the residents including the elderly lamented that they have suffered for a long due to the bad state of the road.

Norah Magoma said:
“This is not a county road as claimed by the MP. He promised to do it during campaigns. Economic activities have stalled along this road because it’s usually impassable during heavy rains. We can’t even take our bananas to markets”
Former councillor Moguche Ongwacho added:
“Some people are threatening us over the demonstrations. This is the third demonstration and we shall continue until the road is done”
