A middle-aged man is nursing serious injuries after he was attacked and injured by a hippopotamus in Mbui Njeru village Kirinyaga County.
Harrison Njiru, who suffered serious injuries, was rescued by neighbours who were passing by.
The neighbours then rushed him to a private hospital in Mwea town where he is currently recuperating.
It's reported that Njiru is out of danger, further noting that abdominal and chest injuries were the most visible.
It forced the intervention of Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) officials who later shot the hippo and residents enjoyed free meat which they took home
The locals also decried rising incidents of hippo attacks in the recent past, calling on the government to intervene.
