Kindiki promises adequate security in West Pokot schools destroyed by bandits

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has assured schools in West Pokot of adequate security ahead of the resumption of learning in January 2024.

Several schools were destroyed by armed bandits over the last 12 months, paralysing learning in the region.

"The government will provide adequate security to ensure normal learning in these schools resumes next month," Kindiki assured parents and guardians.

As local learners prepare for the reopening of the schools, Kindiki said the government had also embarked on the rehabilitation of nine schools and other social amenities abandoned or destroyed by bandit attacks.

"The government through the Interior Ministry is rehabilitating nine (9) schools in West Pokot County; Cheptulel Boys Secondary School, Chesegon, Cheptulel, Sapulmoi, Lonyangalem, Kour, Songok and Karon Primary Schools and Kisaa ECD School," Kindiki said.

The CS made the remarks after inspecting the ongoing works in the institutions on Wednesday, December 27.
