Kindiki Kithure Reveals the 'Operation Maliza Uhalifu' Has Been a Success

In his second accountability briefing to the public Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kindiki Kithure revealed that a number of terror plots failed in the recent past, credit to the patriotic sacrifices security officers are making to protect the gains Kenya has made in the war against terrorism.

The CS highlighted the successes made under the "Operation Maliza Uhalifu", with the multi-agency team on the ground delivering resounding blows against bandits.

Apart from the progressive recovery of rustled livestock, the government is now converting the criminals' former hideouts into training grounds for security agencies.

On the war against narcotics and the production, distribution, sale and consumption of illicit brews, Mr. Kindiki announced that two regional forums have already been held and more bold resolutions made to address the menace with finality.

The CS listed the rise in cultural and religious extremism as among the major security threats under the government's prime focus. He revealed that detectives are zeroing in on more religious leaders suspected of meting out degrading treatment, sexual violence, and financial abuse on their followers.

Citing the recent attempts to overrun police stations in Isebania & Wajir as well as the invasion of tea farms in Bomet & Kericho, the CS sent a stern warning against violent expression of political, social, and economic grievances, reiterating that any plans to revive proscribed criminal gangs, key among them Mungiki, will be met with decisive and firm action from the government.
