Kiambu: Radio host found dead in her boyfriend’s house

Police in Kahawa West, Kiambu County, are investigating the killing of a woman found dead in her boyfriend’s three-bedroom apartment on November 1, 2024.

The case adds to the increasing reports of femicide in Kenya. The 33-year-old victim, Lilian Achieng Aluko, was a presenter at Radio 44.

Authorities believe she was murdered by her boyfriend, George Mutegi, who switched off his phone and has since gone into hiding. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Lilian, had last spoken to her family on Thursday, telling them she would spend the night at her boyfriend’s place.

Her mother recounted, “She left at around 11 am and told me she went to her friend. She did not return. On Friday, minutes to 9, I received a call from an unknown number.”

When police found Lilian’s body, she had visible facial injuries and a stab wound behind her right ear.

Meanwhile, neighbors reported hearing a violent fight that night. The loud stereo made it hard for them to intervene, and the door was locked.

A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

The family urged the police to ensure the suspect is arrested and ensure justice for the victim.

Friends described Lilian as joyful and full of energy. Her sister mourned, saying, “I am heartbroken and devastated because her light has been taken too soon. What we just wish is justice for her.”

A friend added, “We have lost a very good girl in the hands of a person probably she really loved.”

Lilian’s body was moved to the Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home for an autopsy as investigations into the incident continue.
