A suspected thief is fighting for his life at Kericho County Referral Hospital after he was subjected to mob justice.
Police said the incident happened at Ketipyese village in Ainamoi location, Ainamoi Sub County.
“The man was caught stealing maize from a farm belonging to one of the villagers,” witnesses said.
According to residents, the man took advantage of the heavy downpour which was pounding the area.
“He crept into the farm and started picking the maize cobs, but the owner got wind of the incident,” they added.
Further reports indicate that the owner hired some guards after discovering that his yield had dwindled.
The suspect was rounded up after he was shot with an arrow as he surveyed the maize plantation.
“The guards raised an alarm which attracted the attention of the other villagers who rushed to the scene,” locals added.
Officers from Ainamoi police station rushed the suspect to hospital in critical condition.
