Kenya Power on Friday, May 3, announced that power had been restored in parts of the country after a nationwide blackout.
In a statement, it was noted that power in major parts of the country such as Nairobi CBD, Westlands, Thika and Nakuru had already been restored by 9:30 pm on Thursday.
Kisumu residents also had their power restored by midnight.
On the other hand, the utility firm noted that other areas would have their power restored in due course with major parts of the country being reconnected by 6 am on Friday.
"Following the system disturbance that we experienced on the grid this evening, we are glad to report that power supply to parts of Western Kenya, Kisumu, Nakuru, Thika, Nairobi (Eastlands, Westlands, Industrial Area and CBD) has been restored," Kenya Power noted.
Meanwhile in places like Limuru, Kenya Power indicated that technicians were still working around the clock to ensure residents have their electricity connected back.
"Repairs are still on going. Please bear with us as we work towards the resolution of the same," the utility firm noted.
According to Kenya Power, the nationwide blackout was caused by a system disturbance that was occasioned by the ongoing weather conditions.
"At 5:40 pm today, Thursday, 2nd May 2024, we experienced a system disturbance on the grid, resulting in power supply disruption in most parts of the country.
"We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normal power supply at the earliest opportunity," Kenya Power stated.
However, the exact station that was affected is yet to be revealed.
