KeNHA cautions motorist using the Athi River-Machakos road amid heavy rains

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a cautionary advisory to motorists traversing the Athi River-Machakos Road near Green Park Estate, warning of the erosion of embankment slopes on the route due to heavy rains.
In a statement on X on Friday, KeNHA warned that the wearing away of the causeway's slopes poses potential hazards to motorists using the adjacent service road.
"KeNHA advises motorists plying the Athi River - Machakos Road near Green Park estate to exercise caution. The embankment slopes have eroded, posing risks to the service road," the highways authority said in a statement on X.
"The main carriageway remains open, however, due to the tenuous conditions, please refrain from using the service road."
KeNHA further emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety while navigating the main carriageway and advised motorists to proceed with caution.
