Pastor Victor Kanyari was clearly emotional as he spoke during the memorial service of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo.
Reading his tribute on Sunday, November 16, 2025, standing before a crowd of mourners, Kanyari paused several times, struggling to find the right words from his written eulogy.
“Thank you for being a good mother and for the legacy you have left in our children.Thank you for the memories and shared dreams that shape who we are today,” he eulogised.
Kanyari recalled the good times they shared before parting ways as she comforted their kids, family, and friends who attended the memorial service at the CFF Church in Kiambu.
“These memories will forever remain special, and I will also remind me of a good we once shared,” the man of the cloth remarked.

This is not the first time the late singer’s ex-husband has broken down. Kanyari, with whom she had two children, was visibly overwhelmed with grief as he viewed her body at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
“It hurts in ways I can’t explain. You left before I could say everything I needed to. I still see you in every laugh our children give, in every little habit that reminds me of you. We had our moments, both the fire and the calm, but through it all, you were family. I’ll carry your memory, your love, and your spirit forever. Rest easy; you’ll always be missed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kanyari opened up emotionally about the heartbreak of discovering that his ex-wife and gospel musician, Betty Bayo, had been seriously ill, only after she had passed on.
“Tuache kucheza na legacy ya Betty Bayo. Mimi, hakuna mtu alinitafuta. Betty Bayo amegonjeka two weeks na sikuambiwa; nobody told me.
He stressed that had he been informed while Bayo was still in the hospital, he would have done everything possible to help save her life.
Betty succumbed to blood cancer on Monday, November 10, 2025.
