Residents of Matete in Lugari Constituency are reeling after the tragic death of a fourth-year student from a local university, who was reportedly stabbed to death in a local guest house.
Police reports indicate that the victim, identified as Faith Kisilwa Namakwangwachi, sustained multiple stab wounds during the attack at Mbande Guest House.
According to authorities, the main suspect, said to have been her boyfriend, fled the scene and attempted to escape to Nairobi but was intercepted and arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Muhoroni, Kisumu County. Investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the killing, with early reports suggesting it may have been connected to a love-related dispute.
The tragedy comes just weeks after Faith laid her mother to rest, deepening the grief felt by her family, friends, and fellow students.
The suspect is being held at Kakamega Police Station as investigations continue.
