Kajiado County Commissioner James Taari has outlawed any form of protests planned for Thursday within the devolved unit and ordered all bars and entertainment joints in Kitengela to close by 11pm on Wednesday.

This as a section of protesters in Nairobi and other towns had vowed to take to the streets on August 8th – in what has been dubbed the ‘Nane Nane’ march - to push the Kenya Kwanza regime out of power.

Taari, addressing the Kitengela Business Community in the town on Wednesday in a meeting also attended by Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, said they had marshalled enough security manpower to ensure nobody loots businesses under the pretext of anti- government protests.

He noted that property worth Ksh.1 billion has been lost in Kajiado since the protests began, and said the business community can no longer tolerate the demonstrations as he dared looters to set foot to Kitengela during the planned ‘Nane Nane’ march.

On his part, Governor Ole Lenku said protesters were being transported to Kitengela and vowed to continue protecting the businesses against goons that were unleashed during previous demos.

He added that the county government had moved in to beef up the national security agencies in ensuring that no businesses will be looted.

Earlier protests in Kitengela were characterized by hooliganism and looting of businesses by gangs said to have been transported to the populous town from neighboring counties.

Most of those targeted were eateries, supermarkets, bars, petrol stations and electronic shops.

Governor Lenku assured the business community that manpower will be deployed to ensure that no businesses closes on Thursday, a remark reinforced by the County Commissioner.
