Azimio MPs will vote against the affordable housing bill in Parliament, Minority Whip Mark Mwenje said yesterday.
Mwenje said the opposition has resolved to shoot down the bill, which, according to the Embakasi West MP, is not only oppressive but a burden to already over-taxed citizens.
Speaking in Limuru, Mwenje who was accompanied by former MPs and Jubilee Party officials, told President William Ruto to stop force his affordable housing agenda on Kenyans.
“We will not rest until this oppressive proposed law is defeated. The courts have pronounced themselves on this. We as the opposition will play our part of oversighting the government by opposing the taxes imposed by the Kenya Kwanza regime,” Mwenje said.
“This agenda by Ruto is meant to help rich, there is no way a mama mboga can afford to pay for the said houses, it will flop,” Mwenje told a congregation at MJCC church in Limuru.
“The opposition will vote against the oppressive Bill even if we lose we will stand with the common Kenyan who is being forced to contribute to a venture that is meaningless.”
The leaders asked Mount Kenya people to support the Jubilee party as it the only avenue they can use to fight for the region’s interest
They said Jubilee party will remain in the Azimio under the leadership of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
