Famous TikToker Baba Jimmy has sparked debate online after revealing his preference for women who are 'kienyeji.'
In local slang, "kienyeji" refers to women who embrace a natural look, avoiding makeup, wigs, or artificial nails. It can also refer to men who are not well-versed in modern trends.
Baba Jimmy expressed that he was drawn to his wife, Mama Jimmy, because of her natural beauty.
"I saw her as the best. If I wanted a 'broiler' (a modern, city girl), I would have looked for one. But you are not a 'broiler.' I wouldn't want someone who uses makeup. You are kienyeji, I am kienyeji, and we found each other," he shared.
The couple who are living with their two children in the US, spoke about their relationship in a YouTube video they posted recently.
Isaiah, the US-based content creator and preacher from Kitale revealed that his wife, Judy (Mama Jimmy), was a high school dropout when he proposed to her.
"We met when we were young, just 14 years old. Her brother introduced us. But when I met Mama Jimmy, she was not in school; she had been out for some time," he said.
He added that he prayed for about four months before proposing to her. Despite not having a formal wedding certificate, Baba Jimmy affirmed that their marriage is 100% valid in God's eyes, as they were married in church with the approval of their parents.
When asked why they didn’t acquire a legal certificate, Baba Jimmy explained that it was due to complications with his wife's ID, which had an incorrect date of birth. Fixing it was challenging, and they were eager to get married.
"Marriage isn't about the wedding. It’s about the two of you loving each other, being in Christ, and following God's way. That’s what matters," Mama Jimmy chimed in
Isaiah, who recently relocated his family to a 36-acre ranch in Kentucky, clarified that they also followed traditional marriage customs.
He confirmed that he presented cows, money, and other valuables as dowry to his wife’s parents.
Mama Jimmy also opened up about not completing her studies. While she met Baba Jimmy in 2015 at the age of 14, he was not the reason for her dropping out of school.
She explained that financial struggles made it difficult for her to continue with her education. "I went up to Form Three, but due to lack of fees, I had to keep changing schools and eventually stayed at home," she said.
She fondly recalled how Baba Jimmy, who worked with her brother and father in Uganda, used to visit her family home even when she was in Form One and Two, sometimes spending the night there.
