The government has released a total of Ksh. 2,082,697,000 for April payment to beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii programme.
Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs Principal Secretary Joseph Motari, in a statement to newsrooms on Friday, said the ministry had also released another Ksh. 7, 231,000 for the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) complimentary programme.
“Inua Jamii programme is a Government cash transfer initiative that supports the most vulnerable members of the community by providing them with a stipend to cushion them from poverty, hunger and improve their lives,” stated PS Motari.
The April disbursement for both the Inua Jamiii and NICHE programmes are slightly higher than those released for March payments.
The government last month disbursed Ksh. 2,076,610,000 for Inua Jamii and Ksh.4,992,500 for NICHE, with the payments being made through the M-Pesa mobile banking platform.
