Gospel singer Size 8 reborn on Tuesday marked 12 years since she gave her life to Christ and was thankful to the Almighty for saving her life.
Through a social media post, Size 8 (reborn) recalled how many said she would backslide, but she remained steadfast in her faith.
“It is now 12 years since I gave my life to Jesus Christ........God rescued me from the pit of darkness and saved me by His grace yet I was one of the chief of sinners.....His mercy said no to the death of my spirit and degenerated soul.....
“Many said my salvation would not last a week thinking that I was holding my own salvation but they underestímated the power of God that is able to save and sustain us in salvation,” she wrote.
During her heydays, Size 8 was an energetic performer in the secular space but made a switch in 2013.
When she first broke the news of her salvation through her hit song Mateke, not many were confident she could stay in it (gospel) for long but her family encouraged her.
“Back then, I had made up my mind to go the gospel route and I wanted to break the news. I was already recording my first gospel song, Mateke, with Jacky B of Tamu Sana Records, before recording the video with Princecam Media. Everything had been done under tight secrecy and I only wanted the news to go out after releasing the song,” she said in a previous interview.
The singer’s salvation came as a relief to her mother, who, according to Size 8, never fancied her ‘booty-shaking performances’.
She then resolved to make music that would only glorify God.
“My family is happy about my decision, especially my mother who always prayed for me day and night to get saved. The whole booty-shaking thing is now a thing of the past. I am doing everything for Jesus my Lord,” said Size 8 at the time.
Size 8 says she is single after 11 years of marriage
In August this year, the singer shocked her followers when she announced the end of her 11-year marriage to DJ Mo.
Through her instastories, the singer said sometimes marriage does not work and she is ready to start the journey of singlehood.
“Sometimes marriage works by God’s grace and sometimes it does not work but all in all God is still on the throne!!!
“I’ve been married for 11 years and now I start the journey of singlehood…but God is still on the throne, I worship you, Yahweh,” she wrote.
Online, the post sparked mixed reactions from her followers, some warning her against using her marriage to chase clout.
