Four-time world champion Faith Kipyegon powered to victory in the women's 1500m in the Diamond League final in Eugene, USA.

Kipyegon clocked 3:50.72 to clinch her fourth 1500m Diamond League title to cap off a fantastic track season.

The 29-year-old Kenyan was comfortable throughout the four laps and beat world silver medalist Diribe Welteji and perennial opponents Laura Muir and Jessica Hull. At some point, it looked like Kipyegon would break her own world record (3:49.11), but she narrowly missed it.

Diribe finished second in 3:53.93, while Britain's Muir finished third in 3:55.16. Her arch-nemesis Sifan Hassan did not take part in the race

The Kenyan track superstar has now won five Diamond League trophies. She won for the 1500m in 2017, 2021 and 2022 and one for the mile in 2015.

Kipyegon is having a historic season. She won two gold medals at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and broke three world records this year alone, an achievement that is truly unprecedented.

The first world record to fall was the 1,500m record on June 2, where she became the first woman to break the 3:50.00 barrier in the distance, clocking 3:49.11.

A week later, she smashed the 5,000m world record in Paris, then shattered the mile record with a stunning 4:07.64 at the Monaco Diamond League on July 21.
