Edwin Sifuna denies claims that Raila Odinga has retired from politics

The ODM party has clarified that its leader Raila Odinga has not retired from politics as claimed by a media report

In a statement, Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the media report was made in absolute bad faith and was intended to create despondency among supporters of the Orange party.

"Several times, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga has informed the country that he will be presenting himself for election to the position of chairman of the African Union Commission during elections to be held in February 2025.

"As matters stand now, neither Odinga nor the Orange Democratic Movement has announced his exit and retirement from party leadership," he said.

The SG asked ODM members and supporters to treat the media report with the contempt it deserves.

The media report said that the party is planning Raila's exit as early as next month, to focus on his AUC chairmanship campaigns.

It further said that some key leaders from within the party have been fronted as possible replacements for the former Prime Minister.
