Social media influencer and digital content creator Director Trevor has set a few things straight after he broke the internet with news of him firing his long-term girlfriend Mungai Eve.
Trevor, an affluent video director and photographer has revealed the two broke up a year ago and had been putting up an online charade for their fans.
He only recently decided to make the news public due to Mungai stating she no longer wants to work with him.
"We broke up in February 2023. We remained friends and business partners until when she said she did not want to work with this brand anymore. Because she is the one who said she did not want to work with us, I had to take what belongs to me," Director Trevor said while speaking to Tuko.
He went on to clarify that the channels might have had Eve's face and name but she was merely just his employee.
Trevor maintained he owned all their YouTube pages as well as Facebook account highlighting that now that both their romantic and business ties had come to an end Eve would no long be benefiting from the 'empire' he had created.
The silver lining was that, now there are several job openings for other creatives as the young man is looking to hire new staff to continue his brand and grow it further.
"The whole brand was mine. Eve was only the face of the brand. She is not part of the brand. I am hiring new employees and Eve won't be affiliated with that brand in any way and won't get any money from it."
On whether the videos created by Eve would remain on the channels, Trevor said he saw no reason to delete them as Eve was only an employee on the channel and the work she did belonged to the company she worked for.
So the videos are staying and Trevor will still be earning from them. Trevor revealed that after their breakup in 2023, he left Eve in the Kileleshwa house they bought together.
"Nilitoka tuu nikaanza life yangu. Nilimuachia hio nyumba (I just left and went and started my life. I left that house to her) I went to stay in our Airbnb," he said adding that there was no bad blood between them.
"We talk. I can call her, and she can call me. If I need a contact I know she is the only one who has, I ask her and vice versa," he said.
His move has shocked many as in a past interview Trevor had revealed that if the two ever split up he would leave the channels to Eve and start afresh as Eve was so ingrained in the brand.
"Maybe kukiwa na issues ningependa iwe yake. Mimi naeza anza channel leo na bado iwe freshi kabisa.
Kwa sababu brand ni yake, jina ni lake. Hata saa hii information zote ni zake. Mimi najua tu password. Mabo ingine sijui. Mambo ya hela sijui."
