Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has laid his sister Leah Wangari to rest at Mirera in Nanyuki.
Taking to his X account, Gachagua paid tribute to Leah, expressing how dearly he would miss her.
“Today, we have laid to rest our eldest sister Leah Wangari Muriuki, a great woman of remarkable record in the community and society. A teacher and highly resourceful mentor, the Gachagua family, the Gatata family, and the community at Mirera in Nanyuki will miss her wise counsel.”
At the same event, Gachagua admonished young people to stop the protests, assuring them that their grievances had been heard and were being addressed.
“The young generation, Gen Z, as your father, my sons and daughters, we have heard you; you’ve spoken very clearly; the message is home.”
Gachagua emphasized that the protests had been infiltrated by criminals.
“What started as peaceful protests has unfortunately been hijacked by criminals with criminal intent who are now engaging in looting. I urge you to listen to us as parents and call off the protests so that criminals don’t hijack them and engage in criminal activities,” Gachagua continued.
Despite his plea, the protests are still ongoing, with hundreds of youths taking to the streets for anti-government demonstrations.
