Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim has been appointed the Deputy Party Leader of Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Party, succeeding Nominated Senator Shakila Abdallah, who replaces Judith Sijeny as Secretary General.
Maalim's return comes two months after the former Wiper Deputy Party Leader was expelled from the party for making inflammatory remarks, in his native Somali dialect.
The MP, speaking in an undated video that went viral, seemingly intimated that if he were the President of Kenya, he would have "slaughtered 5,000 Gen Z protesters” during the recent wave of anti-Finance Bill 2024 demonstrations.
Anne Kanyi, on the other hand, has been named Wiper's Deputy National Chairperson, in changes announced via a gazette notice dated October 4, 2024.
Additionally, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. and Victor Swanya Ogeto have also been named Deputy National Chairpersons of the Wiper Party.
Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona will serve as Deputy Secretary-Generals.
Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has been appointed as the party's Treasurer, with his Kilome counterpart Thuddeus Nzambia and Mohammed Zakirhusein Lukmanji as his deputies.
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui will take on the role of Organizing Secretary for Wiper, supported by his deputies Jessica Nduku Mbalu (MP, Kibwezi East) and Muriuki Ndwiga.
Nominated Nairobi MCA Jane Muasya and Borabu MP Ben Momanyi have both been appointed Deputy Directors of Elections, with Momanyi succeeding David Lokia.
Mavoko MP Patrick Makau will serve as the Wiper Secretary to the Parliamentary Group, while Eunice Zisiga Lumallas and Makueni County Assembly Speaker Douglas Mbilu will hold the positions of Secretary to the Coalition and Coordinating Committee and Secretary of the County Assembly Caucus, respectively.
Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo and Majala Mlagui have been appointed as the Chairpersons of the Wiper Women Democrats League and the Young Wiper Democrats League, respectively.
Garissa Woman Representative Shukran Hussein Gure succeeds former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu as the Wiper Secretary for Resource Mobilization.
Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has been named Secretary for Devolution, Planning, Finance, and Vision 2030, while Fredrick Papa Okademi will serve as Secretary for Regional Health.
Matungulu MP Stephen Mule will be the Secretary for Health, and Wajir MCA Dahaba Yusuf Farah has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Minorities and Marginalized League.
Omar Twaha Jaabu, Sammy Seroney, and Hellen Ndeti have been appointed as the Secretaries for Religious Affairs, Political Affairs, and Diaspora, respectively.
"Any person with written submissions concerning the intended change by the political party shall within seven (7) days from the date of this publication, deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties," read the gazette notice.
