Nigerian multi-award-winning artist and entrepreneur David Adeleke professionally known as Davido is allegedly suing his first baby mama Sophia Momodu seeking full custody of their 9-year-old daughter Imade.

According to the Grammy nominee, Sophia's constant efforts to frustrate him and his efforts to provide for their daughter are among some of the main reasons that have pushed him to sort out legal help in a bid to scrap off their co-parent agreement and have him as the little girl's full custodian.

The artist, through court documents filed by his lawyers asked the court for "unfettered and unrestricted access to Miss Imade," The motion was presented at the Lagos State High Court, on April 17, 2024.

In the official documents, Davido argued that Sophia has allegedly been using their daughter to constantly extort money from him going as far as turning down a high-end condominium in the gated community of Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos which the 'Unavailable' crooner had purchased for their living just so he'd continue sending her rent money.

“The respondent rejected the offer to stay and live at the above-described secured Oniru apartment, which had been purchased already, but demanded that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my own contribution towards my daughter’s accommodation," part of the court record read.

Davido in the suit adds;

“I bought a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle for the use of the child and the respondent to meet the transport needs, including transportation of the child to and from school, etc. She began to make excuses and complained that the Range Rover SUV was not in a good condition, however, she refused to inform me about that.

Sequel to the information about the said condition of the vehicle, I provided another vehicle, Highlander SUV, and in addition, the sum of N5.8m as requested by her for the repair of the Range Rover SUV, making it two vehicles in the custody and use of the respondent and our daughter," 

Davido is a father of 6 kids 3 of whom he shares with different baby mama. He welcomed twins with his wife Chioma last year shortly after their firstborn son had passed away.
