Musingu Boys High School made a remarkable return to the national stage in high school games, thanks to the leadership and vision of their coach, Brenden Mwinamo.
Under his guidance, the team recently beat Munyuki to clinch victory in the KSSSA Western Region High School Games in male football category, a success that Mwinamo attributed to the invaluable experience gained from participating in various football contests.
And basking in the glory of the resurgence, Mwinamo says that playing in competitive leagues provided the team with the necessary skills and resilience needed to excel in high-stakes tournaments.
"Our participation in various competitions has been crucial," he said. "It has honed our players' abilities and instilled a sense of discipline and teamwork that was pivotal in our regional victory."
Following their regional triumph, Mwinamo and his team have shifted their focus to the upcoming National Championship later this month.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the coach said that they are currently engaged in rigorous training sessions aimed at addressing the shortcomings observed during the regional competitions in Bungoma.
"We are working tirelessly to iron out the mistakes we made in the regionals," Mwinamo noted. "Our training is more intensive than ever as we prepare for the nationals."
Musingu's qualification for the national level is a historic achievement, as it marks the first time in nearly 20 years that the school has reached this stage. Mwinamo attributed this success to the hard work and dedication of his players, as well as his own experience as a seasoned trainer.
"Reaching the national level after such a long time is a significant accomplishment for us," he said. "It is the result of relentless effort, unwavering commitment, and the experience I bring as a coach."
