Bomet: Police launch investigations after the body of a man was found dumped in Mau forest

Police officers from the Silibwet police station are investigating an incident in which a male body was discovered dumped in Mau Forest.

The body was discovered by two young boys who has ventured into the forest for an adventure in the Masese area according to area chief Richard Cheruiyot. 

According to the area chief, the body was hidden in some tall grass, and the two boys alerted members of the public who were herding livestock near the forest's edge.

He said the body had no physical injuries and was retrieved to the Longisa Hospital Mortuary by police officers from Silibwet police station. 

"For the past two years, 25 bodies have been found inside this forest. Most of them are boda boda riders; ,some were identified by their relatives, while others were not. We don't know who the suspects are who are behind this," he said.

At the same time, he warned members of the public and Boda boda operators to exercise caution, particularly at night, when using the Silibwet-Olenguruone road that cuts through the forests.

Following the incident, boda boda operators, led by county chair Alexander Rono, urged police to increase patrols, particularly during the night.
