Bensoul reveals the biggest mistake he made as an artist

Wise sages noted history is the best teacher, however, every so often as with the case of Grammy award-winning songwriter Bensoul, this isn't always the case.
Seldom do we learn from others' mistakes until we ourselves walk on the same path.
Bensoul is a force to be recognized with in the entertainment space, during a candid conversation he had with veteran actor, script writer, and director Philip Karanja the father of one opened up about some of the worst mistakes he made while coming up as a superstar.
"One of the biggest mistakes I've made is mismanagement of funds!" Bensoul said in a matter-of-fact tone.
He went on to note, "mismanaging money and the capital you have as an artist is such a terrible thing. Because let's say some days you can find yourself having been paid Sh. 1 million so if you fail to save, reinvest the payback into your art and budget for that money among so many other amazing different moves you will find you have exhausted the money and you have nothing to show for it.
Like pesa imeishaa tu bro,"
Drawing an example from his past self the 'Extra Pressure' crooner narrated how despite dominating airwaves, before he learned and harnessed financial literacy, he would find himself embarrassingly broke just because he failed to plan better.
"There are times I would find myself in a spot where I have released all these hit songs, but I genuinely don't have any money. Like najipata sina ata shillingi moja (I find myself I don't even have coins)," the former Sol Generation signee told Director Phil.
Interesting how over time we've seen creatives go broke chasing a lifestyle yet those who come after them seemingly repeat the same mistakes albeit some catching themselves before hitting rock bottom.
On what being a superstar meant to him and how it had changed his life the father of one proudly shared, "I feel like what actually really changed for me and it changed in the best way is the amount and level of respect I now command. Even among other creatives/artists,"
