A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Baringo North after the lifeless body of a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, was found rotting inside his house.

The suspect, Dennis Kipsang, a watchman at a local primary school, was apprehended by police after neighbours raised alarm.

The neighbours alerted the police about a disturbing smell coming from the suspect’s house – forcing the police to storm it.

The police, upon breaking into the house, found the decomposing body of 21-year-old woman, identified as Sharon Chelagat.

Police said that the deceased had a thin wire strip tied around her neck.

Baringo North OCPD Mohamed Abdi confirmed the incident.

“Our officers are investigating the incident, but preliminary reports indicate that the man may have killed his girlfriend five days ago, possibly due to a love triangle matter,” said OCPD Abdi.

The suspect is now currently in police custody awaiting prosecution.
