Baba Jimmy, the Mzungu preacher from Kakamega who captivated TikTok with his fluency in Swahili and Luhya accent, has revealed why his biracial children do not hold U.S. citizenship, despite his American nationality and Kenya's allowance for dual citizenship.
Isaiah, also known as Baba Jimmy, recently moved back to a 36-acre ranch in Kentucky with his wife, Judy (referred to as Mama Jimmy), and their two teenage children, a girl and a boy.
Addressing fan questions about their new life in the U.S. and whether they had settled in after their hurried departure from Kenya due to visa issues, Isaiah opened up about their situation.
He explained that his family is currently not eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship.
He elaborated, “There is a law in the U.S. that requires someone to have lived there for more than two years after the age of 14 to be eligible for citizenship.”
He clarified that he came to Kenya as a missionary and lived there for many years, starting a life and eventually a family. As a result, his U.S. residency status is currently under a green card.
Isaiah explained that after completing two years in the U.S. without any issues, he would be able to apply for citizenship for his family.
“I came to Kenya when I was 12 years old, and I had never lived in the U.S. for more than two years since I turned 14. So, my kids cannot become citizens immediately.
"We have applied for visas, and they will receive green cards. After we have lived here for about three years, I can apply for citizenship for them and Mama Jimmy,” the preacher from Kingdom Driven Ministry and Wajumbe Training Bible School said.
