Content creator Andrew Kibe has weighed in on the ongoing saga about the mistreatment of Kenyan artistes during shows that feature international musicians.
This follows musician Willy Paul’s recent rants after what he described as mistreatment during the Diamond Platnumz’s Furaha City Music Festival held at the Nairobi Polo Club on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
The ‘Mkunaji’ hitmaker lamented that he was mistreated at the event and Tanzanian artistes were given priority over their Kenyan counterparts during the show.
“Tanzanian artists are being given priority at this event. This is sad. Mbona Wakenya wanadharauliwa mbele ya wabongo?” a distraught Willy Paul said.
“I’m being mistreated at the event. Wanaweka Tanzanians Waperform. Wanachange vitu last minute. Why are Kenyans allowing this?” he posed.
Addressing the matter via his official X page on Monday, December 9, 2024, Kibe, while stating that the rants were uncalled for, faulted Willy Paul over what he termed as childish outbursts and advised him to apologize to Diamond and the other Tanzanian artistes.
“Whenever I see the cabal of Kenyan ‘content creators’ go left I go right. Willy Kadinya was wrong and if he has any brains he needs to apologize to Diamond asap and the other Tz artists he offended with his childish outbursts. We can’t treat guests like that. Keep your emotional shit to yourself. Mambo ya nyuma ya stage hatufai kujua,” he said.
Willy has received a fair share of criticism and support over his complaints about his bitter experience at the show.
Earlier, Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya took a swipe at the ‘Yes I DO’ hitmaker saying Kenyan musicians need to work harder to maintain their relevance and garner respect to prevent such incidents.
The vibrant lawmaker argued that most Kenyan artistes rarely put work into their relevance after releasing hit songs making them less reputable.
“Diamond has recorded over 1000 songs some have picked some haven’t. I want to ask Kenyan musicians to work hard. Watoe ngoma mingi and they should work more to compete more and to spend more on their time in studios producing songs and quality songs.
“My research has shown me musanii wa Kenya akisha vuma kwa song moja he relaxes and starts to clout chase….congratulations to @bienaimesol @octopizzo and @khaligraph_jones ever producing songs the reason they have gained international respect,” Salasya said.
Adding;
“Me as a politician I can’t just seat at my comfort after winning an election. I must now compete with other mps in service delivery and remain relevant .Wasinii tutoe ngoma kalikali tuwache kutafuta sympathy.“
