Ann Adhiambo's mother reveals she had an altercation with her daughter the night Eric Maigo was murdered

A teen, who is the main suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital’s Finance Director Eric Maigo had an altercation with her mother on the night of September 14, 2023.

According to the mother, who said they had a misunderstanding over food, she sent her daughter to wait outside as she prepared dinner for the family. Not wanting any further altercation with her.

"Nikamwambia kama ungekua mtu wa kupigwa, ningekupiga ,juu yenye nakuuliza kitu na husemi na wewe ndio ulishinda kwa nyumba, " the mother recalled her conversation with the suspect that night.

(I told her if you were someone to be beaten, I would beat you, because when I ask you something, you don't respond. Yet, you're the one who was at home.)

The exchange between the two continued, “Usifanye nikue na hasira na kisirani ambazo sio zako. Kaa tu uko nje. Nimalizane ndio urudi “.

(Don’t make me angry with unnecessary things. Just stay outside. Let me finish, and then you can come back.)

Speaking to NTV, the teen's mother recounts that she started cooking, and when it was ready, she (suspect) was still outside. Her siblings ate dinner and went to bed.

When the teenager got back to the house, she picked up her mattress and laid it on the floor, getting ready for bed. Her mother also went to bed.

At around 6.00 am on September 15, the other children were the first to notice the suspect's absence from the house, and immediately alerted their mother.

The mother was only left wondering where her daughter could have gone at such wee morning hours.

She would be captured on CCTV cameras five blocks away from the house where the murder of Maigo is said to have occurred. The police launched a nationwide manhunt for her as she was declared the prime suspect.

The suspect was arrested in Kibra on Tuesday in an intelligence-led operation by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

The minor alleged murdered will remain in police custody for 21 days to allow police to conclude investigations.

Sources privy to the investigations say that the suspect said she stabbed Maigo in self-defense after she was raped.

She reportedly told detectives that Maigo picked her up by the roadside as she had been chased from her house due to a misunderstanding with her guardian.
