A 2-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling From A Building

A two-year-old boy died after falling from the 12th floor of a residential apartment building in Eastleigh, Nairobi, police said.
The incident occurred on January 1, 2026, at about 4 p.m. at an apartment block.
According to police, the child was at the building’s balcony with other children when he fell to the ground under circumstances that are still under investigation.
Police said the child sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was taken to a mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is pending as part of ongoing inquiries.
Authorities said investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a separate case, police and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) are investigating the death of a suspect who died while in police custody.

Police said the man, who had been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a building and committing a felony, had pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded for 14 days pending mention on January 14, 2026.
On January 1, he reportedly complained of stomach pain and was taken to Engineer Sub-County Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
Police said the cause of death has not yet been established and that a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
IPOA has been notified and is conducting investigations alongside the police, as required by law.
Meanwhile, a car wash attendant died in an electrocution incident in Rodi, Homa Bay County.
Police said the man was at work on January 1 at a car wash in Rodi Township when the incident occurred.
He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body was taken to a mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
Investigators said they are examining the circumstances surrounding the electrocution, including the power supply at the site.
Officials from Kenya Power and Lighting Company visited the scene as part of the investigations.
