7 People Suspected To Behind Kariobangi North PCEA Church Chaos Arrested

The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed the arrest of seven suspects linked to the chaos witnessed at the Kariobangi North PCEA Church on Sunday, November 30.

 

In a communiqué, NPS said that the suspects: Charles Otieno Opiyo, Wilson Okoth alias M.C. Otieno, Michael Mutunga Kavulunze, Brian Omondi Odhiambo alias "Bryo", Reggy Opiyo Otwole, Elisha Otieno Ochieng, Gordon Odhiambo Onyango were arrested in the Lucky Summer area amid a heightened probe.

 

During the incident, officers lobbed teargas into the church where Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was attending a thanksgiving ceremony for newly-elected Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly, David Warui.

As the church service continued, two opposing groups of youths began shouting accusations at each other, forcing officers to fire warning shots and deploy teargas after efforts to calm the chaos turned futile.

 

Gachagua has accused President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja of hiring goons and police to disrupt the meeting.

 

Meanwhile, the Nairobi Regional Police Commander and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a further probe into the incident.
