A man drowned his five-year-old daughter in a family borehole before he died by suicide in a bizarre incident in Mabera, Kuria, Migori County.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 16, in Nyawaitanchira village, police said.

According to police, one Thomas Chacha first grabbed his five-year-old daughter and threw her into a family borehole.

This attracted the attention of the family members who were present, who rushed to rescue her.

By the time they reached where the girl was, 40 feet deep, she had died.

By then, the man had sneaked back to the house and hanged himself using a rope that was found tied around his neck.

Police said they were yet to establish the motive of the murder and suicide.

Both bodies were moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

In Mutitu, Kirinyaga County, police said they are investigating an incident where one Rose Njeri Muthii, 45, was found murdered.

The police said the deceased woman and her husband had been having a conflict that led to physical fighting.

The man had on Wednesday July 16 called a neighbour to his house and showed her the body of Njeri after the murder.

The suspect escaped the scene later.

He had informed the neighbour that they had fought over some money he had sent her for business.

Police said they found the body lying on a sofaset long after the murder incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy to establish how she died.

A hunt for the suspect is ongoing, police said.

Meanwhile, police in Nairobi are investigating the death of a man after he was hit by a goods train.

The incident occurred at Donholm Railway Station on Tuesday, July 15.

The body of Silas Obanda, 26, was found lying at the railway line long after the incident had happened, police said.

His right leg and hand were severed after the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
