Kirinyaga: Police recover stolen gas cylinders, TVs, and motorcycles

Police in Mwea have recovered items that were reportedly stolen following the recent wave of break-ins in Pia area, along the Kirinyaga-Embu border.

Mwea Sub-County Police Commander Chrisphus Omongini said that the police recovered the items during a raid at a rental house in Pia.

Omongini said that a 19-year-old woman and two men aged 23 and 19 years, are currently being held at the Makutano police station – and are helping the police with their investigations.

“Officers from Makutano police station and Nyumba Kumi officials conducted the raid at 8am. The raid was successful and we were able to recover stolen items,” said the area Assistant Chief Mr. Daniel Maina.

Omongini said that some of the items recovered included crude weapons, shop items like wine, books, mattresses, three motorcycles, sofa sets and beds, Keg pump, TVs, gas cylinders among other items.

‘One of the suspects managed to escape, but our officers are actively looking for him. We thank members of the public for giving us information, ' Omongini said.

A vehicle said to have been used to ferry the stolen items was towed to Makutano police station.

Residents have been asked to visit Makutano police station to help identify the items.
