Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that any Kenyan found taking or offering bribes during the upcoming police recruitment will face strict legal action.
Murkomen has directed that those overseeing the recruitment exercise ensure it runs according to the scheduled timelines and concludes by exactly 5 pm in all centres across the country.
Speaking on Sunday, November 9, 2025, during a church service at A.G.C. Kaboson in Bomet County, Murkomen said the ministry has a plan afoot to curb graft and ensure the success of the recruitment exercise.
“We demand transparency and accountability. Those who are carrying money when people go to run so that they can bribe, we want to tell you that we will arrest you,” the CS said.
In an effort to tame and curb the malpractice, Murkomen urged local communities to record anyone involved in bribery using their phones and report them to the authorities. He questioned why citizens are often quick to record politicians but fail to document such illegal practices.
Moreover, Murkomen emphasised that upon completion, the names of all successful candidates should be announced promptly so that everyone knows the results early.

“We want you, as local Kenyan communities, to come out as observers. We want your support for those who will be bribing, to record them and bring them to us, so that we can sort out this thing of corruption,” he stated.
“We want the exercise to be completed by 5 pm so that we can be able to announce all the successful applicants.”
Meanwhile, The National Police Service (NPS) has announced that it will conduct a nationwide recruitment exercise for police constables on November 17, 2025.
The recruitment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security services and enhance the country’s policing capacity.
According to a notice issued by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the recruitment will take place simultaneously in counties across 422 designated centres, and all applicants are required to report to their respective venues by 8:00 am sharp.
Senior police officers and representatives from relevant government agencies, to ensure transparency and fairness, will oversee the exercise.
The Inspector General emphasised that the recruitment process will be free and open to all qualified Kenyans who meet the minimum entry requirements.
The announcements come as the High Court declared that the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has no power to recruit, train, employ, assign, promote, suspend, or dismiss members of the NPS.
The court said such functions fall exclusively under the independent command of the Inspector General (IG) as provided in Article 245 of the Constitution.
In the notice, Kanja said applicants are required to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess a valid Kenya national identity card, and have attained a minimum grade of D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), with at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili.
