Recently, Burna Boy who is set to perform at the 2024 Grammy Awards, was seen in a video leaving the stage during a concert in Ivory Coast after his microphone malfunctioned.
In the online-posted video, the 'Last Last' singer appeared to be entertaining a crowd at a festival in Ivory Coast, unaware that the sound system had failed, and his voice was not audible through the speakers.
His microphone was turned on, so he continued to perform without realizing it until some time later.
Once the Nigerian singer realized the issue, he left the stage to have a heated conversation with the event organizers.
He did not return to finish his performance and could be heard scolding his team, instructing them to bring a car around so he could leave the venue.
However, his angry departure was not only attributed to the malfunctioning sound system but also to some fans shouting the name of Davido – his rival in Afrobeats music.
Burna was also heard telling his team that he had never felt such embarrassment before in his life.
The failed concert happened a few days after Burna Boy's first show in Abidjan, where he honoured several African football legends, including Emmanuel Adebayor and Jay Jay Okocha.
Recently, he tied with Tems as the Nigerian artist with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition, he was featured on Barack Obama's year-end list of favorite songs.
His North American tour, 'I Told Them,' will continue in February 2024.
