The internet’s still buzzing with chatter about Tanzanian singing sensation Zuchu’s hush-hush wedding to Diamond Platnumz that reportedly happened a few weeks ago.

But the real headline? Zuchu’s mum, the legendary Taarab singer Khadija Kopa, has finally broken her silence on why she didn’t show up to the nuptials—and she’s not holding back!

For those who’ve been following the rollercoaster romance between Zuchu and Diamond, the past couple of years have been a wild ride.

After an on-and-off relationship spanning over two years, the pair tied the knot in a low-key Islamic ceremony earlier this year.

Naturally, fans were gobsmacked when Khadija Kopa was noticeably absent, sparking all sorts of gossip. In a candid chat with SPM Buzz, the doting mum set the record straight.

“The Nikah was already done, and she’s married,” she explained. “In Islam, once you’ve got the Sheikh and declared your intent for the bride, the party’s just a bonus. I couldn’t be the wali (bride’s father), and I had important business to attend to. As long as I’ve given my blessing, that’s what counts.”

And oh, she didn’t stop there! Khadija took a cheeky swipe at the naysayers who’d been mocking her daughter, claiming Zuchu would never find a husband.

“I’m thanking God my girl’s married—that was my prayer,” she fired back. “Those who said she’d never get hitched? Well, she did! What more do they want?”

She also shut down rumours of a feud with Diamond’s mum, Mama Dangote, dismissing claims of a rocky relationship with a firm, “Rubbish!”

This isn’t the first time Khadija’s had to clear the air about her daughter's love life. Back in January 2025, she quashed speculation about Diamond’s marriage plans, telling YouTuber Carey Mastory, “I haven’t seen any proposal, and neither has anyone brought one. Ask Zuhura herself!”

She even recalled a viral clip where Diamond hinted at a pre-Ramadan wedding, laughing it off with, “If I see it happen, I’ll let you know!”

Her stance echoes her 2021 comment, “Diamond’s seen me as a mum since before Zuchu joined Wasafi,” showing her long-standing bond with the star.
