Tanzanian singer and songwriter Zuchu has revealed details of the house she is building for her mother, Khadija Kopa.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Zuchu posted a video of the five-bedroom house that is currently under construction. She stated that she is proud of the achievement.

“Building my mum a five-bedroom house. I am so proud of myself Alhamdulillah,” stated the singer.

Playing in the background was her song ‘Mama’ expressing her love for the mum. The house is still in its initial stages of construction with the foundation walls protruding.

Khadija Kopa is a celebrated musician known for her contribution to Taarab genre of music. She came into the music scene in the early 1990s where she joined a Taraab Music band. She grew into a solo artist producing a number of albums and hit songs.

Some of the songs include ‘Siku Zote’, ‘Ndiwe Mpenzi’ and ‘Mwenyewe’.  She has won several awards including ‘Best Female Artist of the Year’ at the Tanzania Music Awards, ‘Best Taraab Artist’ as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award for her role in shaping taarab music.

Khadija Kopa introduces Zuchu to Diamond

The mother of four recently revealed that she desires to get a soulmate who is 50 years and above. Speaking in an interview, she stated that she has been receiving advances from young men.

“I’ve seen them but I don’t want boys. God has not granted me the will to get a man who is mature. I tell them they are kids, they don’t deserve me and I tell them to go look for younger women. I don’t have time for that,” stated Khadija.

Her husband Jeffrey Ally passed on in 2013 after a short illness. He also lost her son who had also ventured into music, Omar Kopa.

It is through Khadija that her daughter Zuchu got to meet the Bongo star Diamond and got signed into his record label WCB Wasafi Label.
