American pop superstar Taylor Swift has announced her engagement to American football player Travis Kelce in a heartfelt Instagram post that has since gone viral.

The singer shared a carousel of photos, the first showing Kelce down on one knee proposing after two years of dating. Another image captured Swift’s dazzling new ring, a cushion-cut diamond set on a gold band.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift cryptically captioned the post, ending with a firecracker emoji. The announcement has already garnered over 28 million likes.

Swift looked elegant in a Ralph Lauren halter-neck dress paired with a diamond-studded Cartier watch, while the venue appeared to be a lush wooded garden decorated with flowers, urns, and an archway.

According to the BBC, the engagement ring was sourced from Artifex Fine Jewelry, where prices typically start around $29,000 (Sh3.7 million).

Adding a personal touch, Swift accompanied the post with her song “So High School” from The Tortured Poets Department, a track rumored to be about Kelce. Fans were quick to point out the connection to a 2016 interview where Kelce, during a game of Kiss, Marry, Kill, chose to “kiss” Swift.

Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, later revealed that the proposal happened “not quite two weeks ago” in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end had asked Swift to join him for a glass of wine in the garden before dinner, where he then popped the question. After Swift said yes, the couple FaceTimed their parents to share the happy news.

Reactions online were mixed but largely celebratory. One fan, Katelyn Njoki, commented, “Aaaw! Congratulations to her.” Another added, “As a Swiftie, I’m happy.” Others, however, joked about a potential breakup album.

Even former U.S. President Donald Trump weighed in, saying, “I wish them the best of luck. He is a good player and good guy and she is a terrific person.”
