Self-proclaimed Kenyan gospel chairman, Ringtone Apoko has claimed that he once asked rapper Stevo Simple Boy for a collabo, but he was turned down.
Speaking on Tuesday, Ringtone said that he is one of the artists whose request to collaborate with big-name artists has been turned down, surprising his fans that his experience came with the Kibera-bred star.
“I once asked for a collab with Stevo Simple Boy but he turned me down. I asked him to team up with me to do a song for God but he asked me to pay him Kenyan shillings 1 million,” Rington said, adding that from his part, he can’t remember turning down another artist’s request for a collab.
The artist who has been on a long hiatus from Music revealed plans for a comeback, saying he is currently preparing an EP that will only feature various artists from across Africa.

“I’m working on an EP which will consist of collabs only. I’m working with artists from Rwanada, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, and Nigeria. It’s coming, the chairman is back in full force,” he revealed.
On his recent presence on TikTok, Ringtone admitted that the platform once helped him a lot, financially when he went broke.
He alleged that most of the TikTok users are fans that he mentored while in school and that’s why when people trolled him about going broke, he joined TikTok and his fans gave lots of ‘TikTok gifts’ that he converted to money.
“There was a time I was a little bit broke and I joined TikTok, the platform helped me, I got lots of money that I can’t quote the exact amount. At that time I used to use TikTok as my hustle, but I’ve since stopped. Right now if I go TikTok live, I just chat with my fans.”
“The reason why I made a lot of money from TikTok is because I invested in a generation. Most of them are people who saw me when I used to traverse schools countrywide. Right now they’re all over the world and they could send me a lot of money. I’m proud that I sacrificed to invest in a generation,” Apoko added.
