Revealed: Diamond Platnumz's Unknown Role in WCB Wasafi Artists' Success

Speaking to entertainment journalists, the singer explained that one of the key strengths of WCB Wasafi is its ability to nurture talent that thrives even after leaving the label — a rarity, according to him, in today’s music business.
“When we sign someone at Wasafi, the intention — especially for me — is for that person to do well. Their success brings me more pride and respect than any money I earn from daily operations,” Diamond said.
He attributed this success to the label’s holistic approach to artist development. At Wasafi, Diamond noted, artists aren’t simply signed and put into studios — they’re taught how to write music, build a personal brand, and conduct themselves professionally within the industry.
“We pour in energy, intelligence, and ideas. Fortunately, most of the artists who chose to go independent had already achieved great success before leaving. That’s because Wasafi isn’t just a label — it’s like a school. People come in and learn so much more than just making music.”
Diamond elaborated that artists are guided through everything from songwriting techniques to public presentation, including essential dos and don’ts that help them thrive independently.
“We teach them how to write songs, how to become stars, how to carry themselves in different settings. From there, they blend that knowledge with their own wisdom and, of course, faith in God.”
The “Jeje” hitmaker also addressed a popular misconception — that he signs artists so they can write songs for him. In fact, he claims the opposite is true.
“Many assume I bring in artists just to write for me. But I’ve written songs for several of them as part of their development. If you ask around Wasafi, they’ll tell you who wrote what — and it’s often me.”
Though Diamond declined to reveal the specific titles or names of the artists he’s written for, he made it clear that songwriting is one of his greatest strengths — even more than performing.
“My real strength lies in songwriting. I’m not just a singer or dancer. Hand me a pen and I can write in any genre — from Bolingo and R&B to Hip-Hop, Amapiano, or Kibao-Kata. I know how to write them all.”

The WCB Wasafi boss concluded by saying he doesn’t like to boast, but wanted to make it clear that his involvement in the success of his artists goes far deeper than what fans see on stage or hear in a studio.
